We welcomed Ponyo into our lives in July 2024, just in time for her to be a "gift" for Marnie's second birthday. After having the opportunity to "borrow" friends' Silkens several times, it was a no-brainer that I was ready to become a multi-dog household. I was looking for another try-anything dog, wanted to further cement strong lure drive in my program, and was really hoping for my next bombshell conformation prospect, too.

When they were several weeks old already, I was made aware that the Magic x Taffy litter still had availability, and really liked what I saw of the puppies structurally from their photos online. Deciding I would just go visit them in person & may or may not be heading home with a puppy, I decided to drive up to Ohio, and spent the weekend observing puppies & picking Mary's brain, absorbing all of the knowledge possible from someone who'd been breeding sighthounds longer than I've been alive.

Welcoming Ponyo home only further cemented the overwhelming adoration Marnie had already established in me for the breed. She has been everything I was hoping for in a second Silken - silly, structurally gorgeous, drivey for the lure. She has gorgeous, balanced movement and absolutely floats on the end of a show lead. At her lure coursing debut, she won Best of Breed & had a stunning run-off for Best in Field the same day she certed to run in Open. She is gritty, unoffended by anything, a SPEEDY little pocket rocket, and solid despite her stature. She runs clean in ASFA and LGRA both, though hasn't quite figured out how jockeying or lane changing truly works in racing, much to her detriment.

We have hopeful plans to breed Ponyo in 2027.
