In Memoriam.
Sega was a successful working Service Dog and the heart dog of his handler, Sterling McIntyre of Airbender Dogs. Sega tragically & unexpectedly passed suddenly in April 2026. My appreciation to Sterling for them allowing me to breed to Sega for our first litter can never be adequately conveyed by any infinite number of thank yous; I am monumentally honored to have the opportunity to share my life with his daughter, Arrietty.
Sega was extremely smart, eager to work, and affectionate; I'd adored him since the first time I laid eyes on him at the 2022 ISWS East Coast Specialty. While he had more important work to do than chasing plastic in his life, focusing primarily on Service work instead, several of his offspring are keen for the lure.
Marnie is my steady, do-it-all girl. She is a jack of all trades, and consistently performs to the absolute best of herself in whatever new sport I throw at her. She is emotionally intelligent, well-traveled, confident in any novel environment I throw her in, and will eagerly request a training session with stompy feet when she feels it's been too long.
Marnie is well accomplished in the show ring, with a Best in Show & Reserve Best in Show amongst the accolades to her name, and has finished her ASFA Field Championship. She has 5.5/12pts towards her LGRA Gazehound Racing Championship and is a clean, honest runner in both venues, including with housemates & friends. She is a working Service Dog.
This litter was an attempted dual-sire. Fawkes was our initial choice in stud, but after an initial mediocre semen analysis, we decided that Sega would contribute to an excellent pairing alongside him as a backup if Fawkes didn't take. Despite improvements in semen quality after supplementation, Fawkes didn't manage to win out & Sega ended up siring the entirety of the litter conceived.
Fawkes is a well-rounded family dog who lives with small dogs & a child. He is a goofy, playful guy with a solid temperament who would likely see success in a variety of venues if his folks were interested. Fawkes spends his days working hard as pest control for any errant game that might make their way into his yard.
Fawkes was purchased as a Service Dog prospect, but has been pulled from public access after multiple attacks from other dogs. He still works for his handler, Tatum, in their home.
While the progression of some testicular concerns have ruled Fawkes out as a prospect for a reattempt at this pairing, he will still always hold a special place in my heart and I'm extremely grateful to Tatum for allowing me to attempt the breeding.
Both males involved in our attempted dual-sire were strong considerations when I was considering what stud I wanted to take to Marnie for her first litter, so it really worked out well that both ended up feasible. My main goals with these pairings was to produce temperamentally sound, easygoing, versatile puppies with natural off-switches and the high potential for success in handler-oriented sports. All three dogs involved were working Service Dogs, which is a huge testament to their temperaments, as successful Silken Service Dogs aren't typically a dime a dozen.
Structurally, the main things I was seeking to improve upon Marnie were her lack of front angulation (upright upper arm, lacking shoulder layback, set too far forward), & she could definitely stand to use more width. Fawkes is a SOLID dog without comprimising on elegance, with impressive width & beautiful spring of rib. Sega had lovely, balanced angles overall, with sound movement & acceptable width, so either male could be complimentary.
