Critter is one of those dogs that we didn't know we needed until the universe plopped him in our laps. In December 2024, we were attending a UKC show in Courtland, VA to show Marnie and a young-at-the-time Ponyo. At the event were three of the 4-month-old Chip x Jewel puppies, co-bred between Hunter's Run and WindNSatin Silken Windhounds. I scooped up a black puppy with the most darling white toes, and he nestled into my arms & promptly tucked his head under my chin. Needless to say, the puppy sure knew what he was doing with that move, and I was quickly convincing Dawson that we could just "borrow" the puppy for socializing for a month or two, it would be great for Ponyo to have a similarly aged playmate...

Critterman came home with us from that event and never left. He is a professional chill guy, and I joke that he's a surfer dude at heart. Anything you're up to, he's down for, especially if that involves being cozy in bed and letting him lay the entirety of his body across you like a living weighted blanket. He is true low arousal, high drive - at lure coursing events, when waiting his turn he truly appears not to care about the lure, but is HOT on it as soon as he's up to that line himself. He loves toys, is an eager bitey-hands playmate at any hour of the day, and has been an invaluable "funcle" to our first bred-by, Arrietty, as she has grown up. He has endless patience for puppies, and will happily entertain them for hours without complaint.

He has lovely, balanced movement, and is a joy to show, as he loves anything that involves one-on-one attention or being touched in any capacity. He isn't extremely food motivated, but verbal praise is enough alone to get him to work for you - he truly just wants to see his people happy. He has been consistently complimented by judges in the Winner's Dog ring at specialties on his movement and balance. Without any prior formal training, I entered him in a UKC Rally-Obedience trial in May 2025, and he managed to qualify with a 100/100 - a true testament to the ease with which this guy will tag along through life with you.

Critter has a slightly overshot bite that does not affect him functionally & does not have any impact on his daily activities or quality of life. As a result, any considerations for him as a stud will be heavily weighed with dentition history in the pedigree in mind. He is not currently available at stud, though future inquiries are welcome.
