Drifter is a happy-go-lucky, bubbly natured dog. Despite his stay here being his first time at "sleep away camp" overnight somewhere unfamiliar, he adjusted seamlessly to a new home, a new crew of hounds, and a new pair of people, all without batting an eye. He is a well-traveled boy who spends a lot of time at AKC FastCAT events with his people, the lovely folks behind Perla Sighthounds.
Drifter is just a few points shy of his Gazehound Racing Championship, has been clocked at 32-33mph at FastCAT, and still goes in enthusiastically on plastic when finishing his runs, even as a newly minted veteran. He was the first Silken to finish his ISWS FAST title (equivalent to 1,000pt AKC FCAT title). He lives to make his people happy, and has always done well in handler-oriented games like tracking, nosework, and obedience.
Marnie is my steady, do-it-all girl. She is a jack of all trades, and consistently performs to the absolute best of herself in whatever new sport I throw at her. She is emotionally intelligent, well-traveled, confident in any novel environment I throw her in, and will eagerly request a training session with stompy feet when she feels it's been too long.
Marnie is well accomplished in the show ring, with a Best in Show & Reserve Best in Show amongst the accolades to her name, and has finished her ASFA Field Championship. She has 5.5/12pts towards her LGRA Gazehound Racing Championship and is a clean, honest runner in both venues, including with housemates & friends.
Temperament is always our priority at Harmeni, first and foremost, and this pairing is certainly no exception. Drifter is an absolute clown and certainly knows how to make you laugh. He is wonderfully appropriate with his communication & play style, and doesn't take an appropriate correction personally from another dog when he is being a little bit too much of a goofy boy in rare instances. Marnie has a tendency to take things personally and sometimes sulk with hurt feelings when corrected by another dog, so I hope to see Drifter's resilience and "water off a duck's back" energy brought to the pairing. Drifter meshed easily with multiple intact girls and an intact boy that he had never met before, and even charmed over our cats with his cheery nature.
He is very personal space forward with people, and clearly in tune with whatever person is in the room at all times, even when thrown into a brand new household with complete strangers for the weekend. I am hoping that this cements the inherent handler focus that Marnie also boasts, while bolstering a bit more confidence in the body pressure regard - Marnie can be on the softer side of the spectrum if she finds that a handler's body language seems to be too forward, looming, or insistent. Both dogs have an aptitude for sniffy games, are eager to work, and are clean, consistent runners. I anticipate puppies to be easy to live with, biddable, drivey for the lure, and to have the potential for success in a large variety of sports, especially anything handler-oriented.
Structurally, Drifter is a gorgeous, balanced hound with a beautiful front assembly. He has a lot of substance without trending towards coarseness & impressive width and prosternum. Drifter posesses the structural qualities that I believe would make him easy to put a Championship (at minimum) on in the show ring, though his folks tend to prefer participation in the performance side of things. Marnie's biggest structural weaknesses are her front assembly (upright upper arm, lacking shoulder layback, set too far forward) and her width (narrow) - Drifter brings massive improvements to the table in these regards. I expect lovely heads, nice & low hocks, and moderate toplines from the pairing.
